A few weeks ago, I invited a few youths to come to a night vigil with me on New Year's Eve. The plan was to meet at my place for food and fellowship before the vigil starts. So of course some invited their friends to come. Some of those friends were only able to stay for the food and said they will not be able to make it for the night vigil for one reason or another. Well, naturally I asked one of them if he knew the Lord. He said he used to be a christian but had somehow drifted back to the old ways. I didn't preach to him but told him that he needs to come back to the Lord.
Fast forward to two Mondays ago, I invited them again to church for prayers. That day two of them called me and said they would like to come for prayers but did not have the fare. So I sent them the fare and they came. When I asked the same young man where he stands with the Lord, this is what he said. "After we spoke the last time, I could not stop thinking about what you said and yesterday I went to church and gave my life to Christ." Hallelujah! That is what I call the work of the Holy Spirit. Long after you stop speaking, He is still speaking. He is still convicting the sinner of sin, righteousness and judgement.
The bible says in John 15:26 that when the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father - the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father - he will testify about me. Verse 27 of the same chapter says, and you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning. So has anyone been with Jesus? Well, testify about him. Testify what he has done for you and leave the rest to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit testifies that the salvation process has been completed. He will speak to the heart of a sinner in a way no other human being could ever do. He will also guide you into all truth and He will tell you of what is yet to come.
