Hearts on Fire

I met Hajilo last semester during our door to door evangelism. After we finished sharing the gospel using the bridge illustration (a tool we use to explain the gospel clearly), we asked all the girls present to tell us which side of the bridge they fell in - the side of man or the side of God. When it came to Hajilo's turn, I noticed some hesitation on her part and sadness in her eyes. She said she would rather not answer and so I asked her if was okay for me to meet with her on a later date. She agreed and we met two days later. When we met, she disclosed to me that she had been a Christian but had deviated along the way. I encouraged her that Christ still loves her no matter how far she had fallen. I also reminded her that the Bible says that if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. And with that and a lot of encouragement from the word of God, Hajilo agreed to give Christianity another try.

She started inviting her roommates and friends to the fellowship. She was not only satisfied knowing Christ while her friends were not following Christ. This became evident when during our bible study together earlier this semester, she told me I needed to follow up with one of her roommates - Prisca. With Hajilo's encouragement, Prisca agreed to meet with me three weeks ago. And just like Hajilo, she was also once a Christian but had given up along the way. We talked about many things that had burden the young beautiful Prisca and at the end of our two hours, another heart was won back for the Lord. A sheep that had wandered off has been found by the Good Shepherd. Hallelujah!

When we met the next week for Bible study, Prisca's prayer and take home was that she may learn how to share the word of God with others. It was so beautiful to hear that. I said to myself, just like Hajilo, this is another heart on fire for Jesus. Glory to God.

Left to Right: Hajilo, Prisca and Me outside their dorm at Kenyatta University.

I am excited and can't wait to see how they are both going to grow in Christlikeness in the coming days.

Please pray for Hajilo and Prisca that:-
  • That fire that God has started in their hearts will burn brighter and bigger and that it will affect others around them.
  • They will be a light to their two roommates and all their friends and family
  • They will excel in their academics (Hajilo is a 3rd year student and Prisca is in her first year of study).
Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
